Humboldt Legacy Skunk No. 1 Genetics

To understand the history of the Humboldt Legacy Skunk No. 1 the journey begins with story and history of the Skunk No 1. Skunk No. 1 is the most distributed cannabis cultivar on the planet, spanning decades, continents, and carrying a definition with in the United Kingdom magistrate synonymous with cannabis. The Humboldt Legacy Skunk No. 1 project is a phenotypic exploration into the validation and preservation of true legacy cannabis genetics. The story and phenotypes of the Humboldt Legacy Skunk is best told by preservationist Marty Yip of Sensational Solutions. It was Marty, once protégé to Salmon Creek Big Bud breeder, who received some of Mel Franks 1996 Bx1 of Skunk Man Sam’s 1988 release of the Sweet Skunk and winner of the first High Times Cup in Amsterdam. Marty and HENDRX have legacy ties, not overlooked by Lele Dubois of Humboldt Grace, visionary behind the Humboldt Legacy Skunk Project. Tasking the community to preserve and validate the two phenotypes. Humboldt Legacy Skunk 1-1 and Humboldt Legacy Skunk 1-3 selected and preserved now at HENDRX, have been full genome sequenced by lead scientific genomic researchers of Medicinal Genomics, led by founder and CSO Kevin McKernan

Humboldt Legacy Skunk No. 1 Origin story

At the center of cannabis cultivars, internationally is the Skunk. Bred by Skunk Man Sam, later identified as David Watson, the Skunk is the most prolific cannabis variety in history. First bred in the 70s in Santa Cruz by combing Acapulco Gold X Columbian Gold X Afgani, the original Skunk was born and began to trade in the hippie hands. Named after its own description of the then unknown thiol volatile sulfur compounds which define both the mammalian bio-discharge and cannabis skunky aromatic experience. Distributed under the name Sacred Seeds, the Skunk began define the drug trade cannabis movement as a recognizable strain to ask for by name. It is often the self righteous who cast the first stone. In the case of Skunk Man Sam, the Southern Humboldt born native who raised earth in Miranda made the journey to Amsterdam, leaving behind California and never returned to his country of origin. Thanks to Ryan Lee, protégé to David, David was able to give origin to the breeding of the Skunk. From his bed in Holland, David gave interview and blessing to the Humboldt Legacy Skunk project. His post humous return to California by way of his cremated remains have been placed in the the hands of many skilled breeders, preservations, and adorning peers including Etienne of the Berkeley Patient Group, Kevin Jodrey, Ryan Lee, Lele Dubois, and Daniel of HENDRX. Preserved in Humboldt County as HENDRX heirloom library of cannabis.

Humboldt Legacy Skunk No. 1 Cannabinoids

In flee of judgement, the breeder found haven in the Netherlands legal frame work, and made in roads by hiring police, judges, and scientists to accomplish the goals of BV Hortipharm. Legal owner of the expired Skunk plant patent, David Watson, founder of BV Hortipharm worked with partner Robert Clarke, and renowned cannabis researcher Ethan Russo at GW Pharmaceuticals to pioneer phytocannabinoid driven research and breeding. Shadowed by these pioneers of industry, the Humboldt Legacy Project follows suit, cultivating and testing the phenotypic cannabinoid and terpene extractions with the help from lead industry testing companies SC Labs and Infinite Cal
